Forged by the First Shadows themselves, this longsword is imbued with their power. One of these beings was summoned by the founders of their temple, though the creature could not be controlled. It slaughtered every one of the founders, leaving this weapon before disappearing.

History[]

First Era[]

When building the first temple of shadow in Morragor, the gnoll supplicants sought to summon one of the First Shadows through grave sacrifice and deed. They were successful, though the being considered their summoning an affront. It slaughtered every living thing in the temple, and then butchered all life in the surrounding countryside. Before returning to its own demesne, the being plunged its sword into the foundation of the temple as a warning against ever summoning it again.

Over the centuries, the jungle slowly reclaimed the dead land around the temple of shadows. In time, only the sword in the temple remained from the massacre. However, a bladeling warlord taking refuge in the temple reclaimed the sword. Naming it Doombringer, he wielded the First Shadows' own power in his conquests, and it became an heirloom wielded by the khan of the bladelings for an era.

Third Era[]

Doombringer was pulled out of a vault in Chernin, where it had been bound by the Raven Guard who could not destroy it, and used in the defense of Starag by Lord Marshal Garrick.
